Apparently, people don't think it's okay to patch up clothes with duct tape and staples.

And i just totally destroyed my shoes, blah, can't afford new ones before MFF.

Thems people are weird, I say duck tape away!
and use crazy roofing staples, for badass effect :)

Unless you find yourself trudging around in below-freezing weather a lot, I highly recommend getting a pair of these if they ship to Canada: http://www.rainbowsandals.com/Classics.asp

They're very comfortable, and they last for years under heavy use. A typical pair of shoes lasts me 6 months or less, and I can kill a pair of Tevas in even less, but I've never actually managed to break a Rainbow sandal. I've had my current pair for over a year, and the only wear on them is a centimeter or so of the soles worn off. I mean it when I say they're all I wear, too. I bicycle around every day in them, and bicycling is _brutal_ to footwear.
